Pups on Parole: women rehabilitate dogs

March 20, 2010 § Leave a Comment

I’m absolutely blown away and inspired by the “Pups on Parole” program (and others like it).

The program partners Heaven Can Wait Animal Society (HCWS) with the Jean and the Southern Nevada Correctional Facilities so inmates can rehabilitate and train dogs rescued by HCWS volunteers. Some of the dogs that are brought into the program have been traumatized and abused, and after their rehabilitation at the prison, they have the chance to have a new life with a new family.

Programs like this really reinforce for me the basic good in people and animals, and that sometimes, it takes a different way of approaching things to find it – and to access it.
